Baku. Agshin RafiqoÄŸlu – APA-Economics. Turkey will abandon “take or pay” principle in gas supply from Azerbaijan from next year, said the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz in his interview to NTV channel.
According to him, Turkey put an end to “take or pay” principle from Russia last year: “Turkey will abandon this principle with Iran at the end of this year, with Azerbaijan from next year. We pay for gas that we don’t buy. Advances of these payments are our citizens’ money. I think we will solve this”.
Turkey buys gas from Iran for $490 per 1,000 cubic meters, from Azerbaijan for $335 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Russia sells gas to Turkey for $425 per 1,000 cm.
