Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “The trade and investment relationship between Azerbaijan and United Kingdom is very strong, but there is more that we feel we can do particularly in many areas outside oil and gas,” said British MP, Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan Charles Hendry at the press conference held for journalists, APA reports.
“The United Kingdom is responsible for more than half of the foreign direct investment into the oil and gas sector. But even in the non-oil and gas sector, the UK has the biggest source of investment coming into Azerbaijan. The decision which has been made shortly about the next stage of Shah Deniz, about the pipeline structure would be a great opportunity for new British investment and from other countries as well to come into Azerbaijan. We are very supporting companies looking to make those decisions we see that is being the next big milestone in the contacts between the two countries. We want to see many other companies coming to Azerbaijan as well,” said Charles Hendry.
The British MP also added that ICT is one of the most important spheres in bilateral relations: “In this regard, a conference will he held in Baku in December and the government will determine the important fields.”
