Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu - APA-Economics. The 2nd SOCAR Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical Complex Forum has kicked off in Baku today.
The forum will focus on discussion of topics on “DPC stages of large oil and gas processing and petrochemical projects”, “technological achievements on gas and chemical industry and market tendencies”, “main equipments, materials and services on oil and gas sphere”, “Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical projects”, “Agreement, logistics, land, ecological and other aspects in realization of large-scale projects” and “experience of local contractors in large-scale projects”.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said at the opening of the forum that the company plays an important role in the oil and gas policy of the world.
Abdullayev noted that the initiators of Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical project start the second – Design-Procurement-Construction stage: “This forum will create condition for both local and international companies to introduce their experience dn technologies for Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical sphere”.
The new complex, which is expected to be put into service during 2018-2020, will be located in the border of Garadag and Absheron regions. OGPC will be comprised of gas processing, oil refinery, petrochemical plants, energy block and other supporting infrastructure. Refined oil and gas products will be mostly directed towards meeting domestic demand. On the other hand most petrochemical products which are characterized with high marginal profit are planned to be exported. Launching of the Complex would enable decommissioning of old oil and gas refinery and petrochemical plants situated in Baku and Sumgait cities and subsequently dismantling them
