UK Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change: “Azerbaijan is the UK’s close energy partner”

Baku – APA. Within the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan, UK Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change Lord Hunt held a press conference. APA reports that Lord Hunt attended the Gas Infrastructure World Caspian – 2009 conference, had meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev and SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev during the visit. British Minister said the main goal of his visit to Azerbaijan was to conduct discussions over “South” energy corridor project and welcomed Azerbaijan’s position in this issue. The Minister said he did not know when the project would be implemented.
To the minister, Azerbaijan is the UK’s close energy partner: “Azerbaijan and Great Britain have close relations and we are committed to enhancing these ties in the future. British companies are actively working in energy sector of the region and invest capitals in this sphere. Caspian region assumes great importance in terms of transportation of energy resources to Europe”. The British Minister said his country supported all the energy projects carried out in Azerbaijan.
