Astana. Laman Agayeva - APA. Kazakhstan has suggested anew proposals on the feasibility study for the proposed Trans-Caspian Project, Vurgun Jafarov, head of SOCAR Office in Kazakhstan, told APA Bureau for Central Asia.

According to him, KazMunaiGaz President Kairgeldy Kabyldin sent a letter of proposals to SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev on June 18.

“The proposals suggest that the project feasibility study can be performed even without the involvement of legal entities. The project is delayed by the fact that the feasibility study is under the control of consortium participants. Under the joint declaration signed by the parties, the parties have the right to self-perform the feasibility study. Currently, this proposal is under consideration and, perhaps, the Azerbaijani side will respond to it positively. Thus, by this yearend we will be able to announce a tender for the feasibility study,” he added.

According to Vurgun Jafarov, construction of terminals in Garadagh in Azerbaijan and in Eskene-Kuryk in Kazakhstan will begin immediately after the completion of feasibility study.

Besides, new tankers with 30 000 to 60 000 tons capacity will be ordered.

”It is predicted that in 2012-2013 Kashagan and Tengiz oil will be delivered on tankers to Azerbaijan and onward, to the world market through a pipeline. According to preliminary calculations, 20 million tons of oil will be transported through this route in the first year. Later, this figure will be increased to 80 million tonnes a year,” he noted.

In his opinion, supplying oil to world markets via Azerbaijan through Trans-Caspian pipeline is more realistic and suitable for Kazakhstan.

If this project is realized in the near future, Kazakhstan will not look for alternatives.
