Azerbaijan posts a 2.7% rise in extractive industry

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s extractive industry output increased by 2.7% year-on-year during January-May, said the State Statistical Committee.

According to the official data, Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), a BP-led consortium, produced 16.9 million tons of oil and 4 740.1 million cubic meters of gas for sale.

The figures represent an increase of 3.3% and 34.8% respectively from a year ago.

In total 20 396 700 tons of crude oil was produced in the country, up 2.3% from the same period last year.
10 022.6 million cubic meters of gas was produced, up 2.4% from the same period last year.

Every four industrial worker is employed at extractive industry in the country.

Average monthly salary increased to AZN 1 018.9 in extractive industry.
