Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline exports 3.3 million barrels of oil in May

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. 3.3 million tonnes of oil was pumped abroad through Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline during May, said SOCAR.

According to the company, in total 14.4 million tonnes of oil were exported through this route in January-May.

Since the launch of the BTC pipeline, 84.4 million tonnes of Azeri Light crude oil was exported through the pipeline.

Following the final commissioning of new BTC pump stations and facilities in Azerbaijan and Georgia, BTC reached its design capacity of one million barrels of oil a day (approximately 50 million tonnes per year) in mid-2008 and the pipeline’s design capacity of 1.2 million barrels of oil a day was achieved in March 2009.


The BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25.00%); Chevron (8.90%); StatoilHydro (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5.00%); Total (5.00%), Itochu (3.40%); INPEX (2.50%), ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Hess (2.36%).
