BP-Azerbaijan to drill new wells at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. BP-Azerbaijan plans to drill several new wells at platforms of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG), the largest oil field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin.
Drilling activities at B23 production well at Central Azeri are slated to continue as soon as this platform is returned on stream after overhaul, said BP-Azerbaijan.
With regard to Weat Azeri Platform, drilling work at C18 production well is complete and at C20 water injection well is on track of completion, said the company.
“Four wells – 2 production wells (C18, C21) and 2 water injection wells (C20, C22) are planned for drilling this year,†added BP-Azerbaijan.
Besides, after completion of drilling at D13 production well at East Azeri in December 2008, D14 production well is being drilled.
“D14 drilling work is slated for completion in October 2009. In addition, D15 and D17 water injections wells will be drilled at East Azeri this year,†said the company.
BP is the operator of major projects in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, and in the trans-Caucasus region.
ACG participating interests are: BP (operator – 34.1%), Chevron (10.2%), SOCAR (10%), INPEX (10%), StatoilHydro (8.6%), ExxonMobil (8%), TPAO (6.8%), Devon (5.6%), ITOCHU (3.9%), Hess (2.7%).
