BP-Azerbaijan to launch fifth phase of Sangachal Terminal Expansion Programme

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. BP-Azerbaijan has announced that it will launch Phase 5 of the Sangachal Terminal Expansion Programme (STEP) in summer or autumn.

The previous STEP phases are complete with Phase 4 commissioned in February 2009, said BP-Azerbaijan, the operator of the terminal.


“Current activities at STEP also include civil foundations and piping works for the Gas Dew Point Control Unit used to remove condensate from the gas) for ACG associated gas. The process modules for this facility have been constructed in Singapore and arrived in Baku. The facility is slated for commissioning in the second quarter of 2009,” said the company.

Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) participating interests are: BP (operator – 34.1%), Chevron (10.2%), SOCAR (10%), INPEX (10%), StatoilHydro (8.6%), ExxonMobil (8%), TPAO (6.8%), Devon (5.6%), ITOCHU (3.9%), Hess (2.7%).
