Ankara-APA. “We have instructed our relevant ministries about gas talks with Azerbaijan and negotiations are on track of fast progress, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Ankara.

He expressed concern over media reports about gas prices, saying Turkey could buy Azeri gas a bit cheaper than the price of gas on the world markets.

“It is incorrect to decrease relations to this level by keeping the issue of gas price on focus,” he added.

According to him, Turkey imported more than 4 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan in 2008 but wants to increase the volume to 8 billion cubic meters.

“Our gas imports from Azerbaijan might be 6-7 billion cubic meters this year. Our annual gas consumption is 35-36 billion cubic meters now,” he added.
