Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Turkey plans to further tighten security of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline section in its territory, reported Zaman.

The Gendarmerie General Command requested BOTAÅž, Turkish operator of the pipeline, for thermal cameras, night vision devices and mine scanners, saying terrorist threat has increased.

Gendarmerie Command also demanded that BTC security personnel at the pumping stations and facilities be equipped with arms.

Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources decided to take urgent measures to ensure the security of the BTC through necessary funding from BOTAÅž.

However, BOTAÅž said suggested the additional security costs be covered by the state budget, arguing that the BTC is an international project.
