SOCAR may take part in Georgiaâ€™s tender for underground gas storage facilities

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. State Oil Company of Azerbaijan may join Georgiaâ€™s tender for the design of underground gas storage facilities, said Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri.

â€œSOCAR takes interest and will join this tender. We would also be happy if SOCAR joins the next tender for the construction of underground gas storage facilities after design work,â€ he added.

In his words, the capacity will be 450 million cubic meters at the first phase and will be enhanced gradually to 1.5 billion cubic meters and 5 billion cubic meters.

â€This capacity is too large for Georgia. We will consider the storage of SOCARâ€™s gas with the possibility of future gas supplies to Europe,â€ he added.
