Baku. VIktoria Dementieva – APA. “Compared to other projects of European interest, such as Nabucco, the ITGI has the undoubted advantage of being able to be implemented quickly and without having to overcome particular obstacles,” said Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini, APA reports.
“Another project in the energy sector that is very dear to Italy is the Interconnection Greece-Turkey-Italy, which was declared in 2006 of European interest dall’Ue and that would allow the importation into Italy, through Turkey and Greece, the gas from the Caspian region and in particular dall’Azerbaijan, without passing from Russia. Allowing the diversification of sources and routes of supply of gas, the ITGI help to increase European energy security,” the minister said.
Comparing ITGI with other EU projects, such as Nabucco, the minister said ITGI was advantageous.
“We hope then to be able to conclude an agreement with the countries concerned so as to accelerate its implementation,” Franco Frattini said.
