Commemorative event held at Turkish Martyrs' Memorial in Baku

Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. A commemorative event was held Thursday at the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial in Baku in connection with the liberation of Baku by the Caucasian Islamic Army led by Nuru Pasha from the bolshevik-dashnak occupation.

Undersecretary of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan Meral Barlas, who attended the event, laid a wreath at the memorial and left a note in the book of condolences.

Addressing the event, the diplomat said that the Turkish martyrs, who came to the aid of Azerbaijani brothers in the most difficult moments, are unshakable foundation of relations between the two countries.

“Our relationship is built on such a solid foundation. The heroism of the Turkish soldiers for Azerbaijan’s independence is honored with appreciation by Azerbaijani brothers even after 98 years,” Barlas said.

The embassy staff and public representatives also laid flowers at the memorial plaque on which the names of the martyrs are written.
