Addressing the parliamentary session on March 4, Novruzov said that political parties, in accordance with the amendments recently made to the Law “On political parties”, are required to deliver reports of donations and membership fees to the country’s Central Election Commission (CEC).

Information in this regard is also available on the CEC’s website so that either public or members of these organizations are able to be aware how much funds are collected, paid and spent for what, the MP added.

According to him, even prior to the adoption of the law, New Azerbaijan Party used to present a report once a year.

“Unfortunately, some groups that call themselves opposition parties, however, oppose to the interests of the state and people, are evading financial statements. These parties should be fined,” he added.

The MP said that in order to show the lack of financial turnover, a number of parties submit to the CEC an empty sheet of paper.

“Though they have number of employees, bodyguards, expensive cars, they are avoiding to report. The reason is that their reports are not transparent. There are financed by some forces abroad. Their goal is to destabilize the socio-political situation in Azerbaijan through anti-state propaganda and slander. They do not disdain to receive funds from abroad, even from the Armenian lobby,” Novruzov concluded.
