Efforts underway to extinguish fire on Russian tanker in Caspian, one person missing - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

According to the ministry, around 9:35AM 23 April, the National Center for State Maritime Administration received a SOS signal about a fire accident on the Russian-flagged unladen PALFLOT-2 tanker, which was 110km from the coast and was floating from Azerbaijan’s Dubandi port towards Turkmenistan’s Alaja port. 

 

In line the instructions, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations and Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company sent relevant forces to tackle the fire. 

 

The ministry’s “MI-17-1V” and “KA-32” helicopters and “Vixr-5 ship”, Caspian Shipping Company’s “Caspian Voyager”, “Caspian Protector” 
, “Islay” and “Jura” ships are struggling to extinguish the fire. 

 

10 of the 11 crew members of the tanker have been rescued, while the one crew member—Kramchuk Andrey Vladimirovich—is missing.

Baku – APA. A fire has occurred in the Russian-flagged PALFLOT-2 tanker sailing at a distance of 110 km off the coast of the Caspian Sea.

 

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, helicopters of the aviation unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, “Vixr-5” firefighter ship of the ministry's State Fire Protection Service and other ships nearby have been deployed to the scene.
