Baku – APA. The Citizens' Labor Rights Protection League and the US firm Arthur J. Finkelstein & Associates (AJF) will hold a joint exit poll in connection with the upcoming referendum in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev earlier signed an order to hold a referendum on making amendments to the country’s Constitution on Sept. 26, 2016.

Speaking to APA, Chairman of the Citizens' Labor Rights Protection League Sahib Mammadov said that the organization he heads is highly experienced in monitoring elections and raising election awareness, and during the November 2015 parliamentary elections has held exit polls at 1,053 stations in 118 constituencies in cooperation with the US firm AJF & Associates.

This cooperation will proceed with the exit poll for the upcoming 26 Sept. referendum, he noted.

“The survey will be conducted by 30 instructed supervisors and 900 interviewers. They will first hold an exit poll at 450 stations in 100 constituencies selected by lot. Respondents will be involved in the survey process on the basis of random selection,” Mammadov said.

According to him, the exit poll will be held within a day in pre-defined polling stations during a few hours before the beginning of the election till then it will end.

On the basis of the information obtained from voters, the public will be informed about initial results of the voting and approximate statistics on the electorate, efforts will be made to operatively forecast about the results of the voting, Mammadov added.

“We are sure that the exit-poll will be held successfully like the previous one held in connection with the parliamentary election in November 2015, and we will be able to get accurate results within a short time. We call on the people to take an active part in the exit poll”, he said.
