Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. International observers deem the ongoing referendum in Azerbaijan well-organized, Mazahir Panahov, chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC), told reporters.
Panahov said all the necessary conditions have been created for local and international observers.
According to him, there are a total of registered 54,000 observers, among whom are representatives of political parties and NGOs.
“Citizens who have registered as observers at their personal initiative make up the majority,” Panahov said. “There are 10 observers per polling station. Journalists are allowed to observe the process after presenting their journalist card.”
The referendum to make amendments to Azerbaijan’s Constitution kicked off at 8:00 am local time and will wrap up at 7:00 pm.
The number of voters in Azerbaijan stands at 5,267,111 people.
