Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will set a date for a referendum on constitutional amendments, Ziyafat Asgarov, first vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, chairman of the parliament's security, defense and anti-corruption Committee, told APA.
On July 18, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on submitting the draft Referendum Act “On making amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan” to the Constitutional Court.
The Constitutional Court approved the draft Referendum Act at a plenary session on July 25.
According to the Referendum Act, the appointment of the date for the referendum is within the competence of the country’s president, Asgarov added.
In this regard, the Central Election Commission will hold a meeting on July 26.
