"Russian MP Konstantin Zatulin, who ignored the restoration and improvement works carried out in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan, and who either remained silent or openly justified the Armenian atrocities during the occupation, has once again spoken out with white lies and accused the Azerbaijani state of "vandalism". Allegedly, the demolition of the statue of Ivan Aivazovsky in Khankendi is "barbarism", "destruction of religious and historical monuments", etc. These accusations are not only groundless, but also a manifestation of Zatulin's political position and personal immorality," MP, Deputy Chairman of the Party of Justice, Law and Democracy Elchin Mirzabayli told APA.

"If Zatulin truly values cultural heritage, why is he silent today about the destruction of hundreds of Muslim mosques in Russia and the desecration of monuments of the peoples of the Caucasus? Why does his concept of "barbarism" only apply when it comes to Armenia? Zatulin is not just a person who sold his honor for the sake of corporate interests, he is a representative of the imperialist mentality that assimilated peoples throughout the 20th century, encroached on the cultural heritage and sovereignty of peoples. What he says is not the truth, but shows how naked and crude a lie can be. Azerbaijan, however, today protects and will protect its history, culture, and freedom. Neither Zatulin nor those like him have the moral right nor the political power to stop this process," added MP.
