“While Azerbaijan is building roads, they continue to put obstacles on the roads. The place where we are standing today was on the road from Barda to Khankandi. There was no road here, and the road was destroyed, Assistant to Azerbaijani President-Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev has told journalists as foreign diplomats’ visited Aghdam, APA reports.

Hikmat Hajiyev noted that during the Soviet era, the Agdam-Khankandi road was used geographically and naturally as the most suitable and efficient road in terms of transportation: "Because this is a road that will greatly reduce transportation costs, whatever is needed for Armenians living in Garabagh can be easily delivered by this road. At the same time, by using this road they will have the opportunity to export their products to the Azerbaijani markets. But instead of using this way, they are busy creating roadblocks. Azerbaijan's proposal is that this road should be the starting point for the reintegration of Armenian residents of Garabagh into the political, economic, and social spheres of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, they reject this. As you can see, railways also pass through here. All this is actually to make their lives easier, to solve this issue politically and to create better economic and social opportunities. Unfortunately, they put barriers at the other end of the road so that it cannot be used.”
