"I suggest that we look at the issue of celebrating July 14 as a special official day, taking into account its exceptional role in history of our country," said member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament) Bahruz Maharramov at the last meeting of Milli Majlis’ extraordinary session, APA reports.
He said that July 14 is a very important day in the history of statehood of Azerbaijan, it is the calendar when Great Leader Heydar Aliyev came to political power in the country for the first time.
MP Sahib Aliyev stressed that this day has a very important history: "During Heydar Aliyev's leadership of the Communist Party, Baku was nationalized, the number of Azerbaijanis in Baku increased, and Azerbaijanism was brought to the country as a whole. Could Heydar Aliyev do these things if he didn't have high abilities? It was the result of his high persuasiveness that Turkish officials could come to Azerbaijan".
