Azerbaijan begins environmental monitoring in the areas where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed

As a result of the discussions conducted by the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent on December 3 and 7, on December 10, a team consisting of experts from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Service for Real Estate Affairs under the Ministry of Economy and "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company starts monitoring regarding illegal exploitation of mineral deposits, resulting environmental and other secondary consequences in the area temporarily deployed by Russian peacekeepers, says the joint information of Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

During the monitoring, on-site inspection of mineral deposits, especially Kizilbulag gold and Demirli copper-molybdenum deposits and monitoring in various directions, organization of cadastral accounting of property, assessment of potential damage and risks to the environment, underground and surface water sources are planned.
