Arif Hajili: â€œMusavat Party can make decision not to participate in the presidential electionsâ€

He said the Partyâ€™s Council had discussed this issue on Monday and decided to develop discussions in the Party structures. â€œIn its decision about the participation in the elections, Musavat Party said that it could back to this question again and to discuss this issue. One stage was completed and amendments to the Electoral Code were adopted. Imitation of democracy was rejected and in point of fact the course of full restriction of oppositionâ€™s activity was taken. Both law on Freedom of Assembly and Electoral Code were sharpened. Reducing of campaign period, restrictions of campaign opportunities and other such measures force us to think about the new political tactic. We donâ€™t rule out that we will prefer not to participate in the elections as a new tactic. Taken into consideration the seriousness of the issue, it will be discussed widely in all structures of the partyâ€.
Hajili said it was difficult to say anything about the final decision, but it would be clear in short time.
