Fazil Gazanfaroglu: â€œI donâ€™t believe US allocations for the elections in Azerbaijan will be spent for its intended purposeâ€

Elnur Mammadli-APA. â€œSpending of more than 3 million dollars US allocated for the presidential elections in Azerbaijan for its intended purpose is under the questionâ€, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, Chairman of National Salvation Party and member of the Parliament, told APA. He said means were allocated for exit-polls, parallel counting of votes and training of law-enforcement staff and it would directly be controlled by the US Embassy. Gazanfaroglu said: â€œIt could have doubtful results, because part of money was allocated for the Institute of National Democracy, which is unreliable and corrupted organization with low influence among the political forces. Therefore I donâ€™t believe in transparent spending of this allocation for its intended purpose. I consider that public organizations and NGOs have to control the activity of the US Embassy in this direction and to conduct monitoring not to allow government officials and opposition activists close to them to misappropriate the money. In previous elections allocations were shared just like thatâ€.
