Baku. Ramil Mammadli-APA. “We support the next act of amnesty this year and Human Right Commission has prepared its proposals on this issue”, Elmira Suleymanova, Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan told journalists, APA reports. 8 acts of amnesty and 44 decrees of pardon have been issued since Azerbaijan declared its independence. Suleymanova expressed her opinion on concerning of the act of amnesty to journalists. “It is difficult to say anything about the concerning of the act of amnesty to journalists. In any case it will concern to people from various strata of society. Several journalists have been released by the decree of pardon. It is early to say which articles will be covered by the amnesty”. Elmira Suleymanova made comment on the thoughts about the indifference Human Rights Commission showed to the arrest of journalists. “We are trying to solve the problems related to the arrest of journalists. We have appealed to the law-enforcement bodies for the issues of Eynulla Fatullayev and Agil Khalil. Many people have no information about the activity of the Human Rights Commission. We don’t consider anyone as a super person. We take interest in conditions of all prisoners when we visit the penitentiaries. The prisoners mostly complain on the investigation and court decisions, but they should know that ombudsman cannot change the court’s decision. Prisoners should appeal to the courts themselves”.
