Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister: “No negotiations are being held on delivering Russia-sent cargo to Iran”

According to the Deputy Minister, if Russia wants to transport cargo through Azerbaijan’s territory, it should present documents showing the last user and give information about the contents of the cargo.
“This is a very simple issue. But they do not present these documents, and deliver messages through media for us to release the cargo. There are international rules, procedures. Why should we ignore them? There are no negotiations, or contact, we are not given answer. If Russian Embassy in Baku had received answer from Moscow and delivered to Azerbaijan, the issue would have been solved”, he said.
Araz Azimov said he had learned from media that Iranian representative had sent a message from Tehran and underlined that he would meet Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan and ask what message Iran’s representative wanted to deliver from Tehran.
“We hope the issue will be solved in line with rules, through a simple dialogue. If someone wants to confront Azerbaijan with Iran over this issue, their attempts will fail”, he said.
