Thomas Hammerberg: â€œComplete solution of refugee problem depends on peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijanâ€

APA European Bureau reports that the commissioner has responded the questions after completing his report. Member of the Azerbaijani delegation Ganira Pashayeva regrettably noted that Thomas Hammerberg had not spoken about the violation of rights of nearly one million Azerbaijanis as a result of the occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia. â€œHundred thousands of people cannot return home. Mr. Hammerberg, what do you think, how can the rights of these people be restored?â€ Thomas Hammerberg reminded that he visited Azerbaijan last September to learn the situation and prepared a special report on the results of this visit. â€œAll necessary advices have been reflected in that report. We have visited refugee camps and talked to the refugees. We noted in the report that Azerbaijani Government had done important works for the improvement of situation of the refugees, but I think the complete solution of this problem depends on the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We hope our reports and documents will play certain role in the restoration of violated rights of the people. This problem will find its final solution if the peace agreement is reached within the Minsk Groupâ€.
