Baku. Laura Jabrayilli-APA. “I do not agree to the special approach to national minorities in Azerbaijan. There is one painful expression in that statement. I do not agree that Azerbaijan approaches Armenians as a second kind of people. These are artificial statements”, Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova told APA.
The Ombudsman noted that European Commissioner on Human Rights was in Azerbaijan and familiarized with realities and stated that there was not discrimination in Azerbaijan.
“There are about 50,000 Armenians in Azerbaijan and they have not been discriminated. They have only common problems as Azerbaijanis. It would be better if international organizations considered Azerbaijan’s appeals. We have appealed to proper organizations on Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis, Khojali massacre, buy nobody asks that where is 300,000 Azerbaijanis living in Armenia for a century? Who is responsible for violence committed against them?
These double standards should be eliminated. Armenia has occupied Azerbaijan’s lands and driven out its citizens? Who will answer to these crimes?
I call international organizations to approach to this issue from this point of view. When any violence is not punished, it instigates the forces to a crime”, she said.
