Elmar Mammadyarov: â€œIslamic countries should increase efforts to settle conflicts in their territories on the basis of international legal normsâ€

APA quoting Press-Service of Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry reports, Elmar Mammadyarov expressed gratitude to OIC countries for their support in Nagorno Karabakh conflict. â€œWe strongly urge international community to condemn Armenian aggression and to support Azerbaijan in its efforts to restore its sovereignty over Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied regionsâ€. He said the draft resolution on â€œthe situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijanâ€ would be voted on in the plenary session of the UN General Assembly. â€œI appeal to all OIC member states to vote in favor of this draft. Your positive vote will be a demonstration of the Islamic Solidarity and brotherly support to my countryâ€™s just causeâ€. Elmar Mammadyarov touched upon Azerbaijanâ€™s contribution to the OIC activity and informed the event participants about the OIC summit in Baku. Spoking about the situation in Palestine, especially in Gaza Strip, Minister Mammadyarov said:
â€œAzerbaijan encourages all Member States to increase their efforts to achieve settlement of the conflicts in the Islamic world based on the norms and principles of international lawâ€.
At the end of his speech, he touched upon Islamophobia and issues of Muslim minorities in non-Muslim countries and said that â€œa new wave of malicious attacks against Islam in some European countries confirmed vital necessity to strengthen our joint efforts to counter Islamophobiaâ€.
