Azerbaijan protests Kosovo issue within OIC <font color=red>â€“ UPDATED </font>

The Ministersâ€™ meeting was conducted right after the expertsâ€™ sitting, where they had discussed the documents to be adopted by OIC leaders. According to â€œZamanâ€ newspaper, Turkey tried to include an article related to the recognition Kosovoâ€™s independence in the summitâ€™s final document, but it was protested by several countries including Azerbaijan, Egypt, Sudan and Indonesia. The document only supports the solidarity with Kosovo people. Turkey is expected to raise this issue and insist on its position at the meetings of ministers and heads of states.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesman Khazar Ibrahim told APA, experts could discuss various issues, but the main issue was to be solved at the conference. He said Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Vagif Sadikhov was attending the meeting.
Only 5 Muslim countries â€“ Turkey, Albania, Malaysia, Afghanistan and Senegal have recognized Kosovoâ€™s independence so far. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are going to make similar steps.
