Finland prioritizes solution of “frozen conflicts “

Speaking on behalf of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva, Tiilikainen outlined the Finnish Chairmanship’s priorities for the year, and addressed some of the challenges facing the Organization, including protracted conflicts in the OSCE area and election observation. She noted that, OSCE is ready to assist the countries for the prevention of the conflicts and reconstruction works after conflict. Tiilikainen sated that Ilkka Kanerva, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister will visit all states having conflicts in their territory. Tiilikainen noted that Kanerva appointed Heikki Talvitie as his special representative to improve a peaceful solution to the conflicts.
“All sides should be involved in talks and every opportunity should be used. We will promote confidence between the sides,” she said.
