Kyiv to host joint meeting of BSEC Foreign Ministers’ Council and European Union

Executive manager of BSEC Permanent International Secretariat Meltem Guney told APA that the participants are already in Kyiv. They will have an informal meeting during the reception this evening. Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine will be represented at the meeting. Deputy foreign ministers will represent Azerbaijan, Russia and Greece at the meeting. According to Meltem Guney, attracting attention of international community to Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization will be discussed at the meeting.
“The organization received new applications in connection with the status of observer. The number of such countries reached 18. It can be considered the increasing interest in the organization. BSEC and EU will discuss new stage of cooperation between the two organizations. This is the first meeting in the new format,” she said.
EU Troika is expected to attend the BSEC-EU meeting.
At the end of the meeting BSEC Foreign Ministers’ Council and European Union will adopt a declaration on cooperation. Besides, signing understanding memorandum with Armenia is also on the agenda. Participants of the conference, as well as Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev will address the meeting.
