Media situation in Azerbaijan was debated in the last plenary session of Venice Commission. But President’s last decree was its response. I do not expect any tension after it, head of Azerbaijani permanent representation in Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE), ambassador Arif Mammadov told APA.
Ambassador said that issue on media was also debated in his meeting with Ago group of CE Committee of the Ministers.
“Media situation caused anxiety. CE also understands that there is professionalism and ethics of journalists in the root of the problem. That is why CE wants to contribute to this issue and hold trainings for journalists. As Azerbaijani government we said that we are ready to any cooperation and wish holding such trainings. Journalist should inform his reader correctly and should be professional in his work. False information can only damage the image of the media outlet. One of the actual issues is ethics in journalism and we are ready to cooperation with CE in this field,” he said. /APA/
