MP Iltizam Akbarli: I did not expect such attitude from Musavat
“It would be a lie if I said that I considered Musavat’s objecting to my candidacy in the delegation to PACE normally. The months when this issue was discussed were the hardest in my life. I can even say that I had not faced such tension after the events of 1993. I did not expect such attitude from Musavat. This problem should have been solved differently.
Political figures should derive advantage even from damage,†he said.
MP saying that he does not want to touch thoroughly upon issue on Musavat Party’s acceding to European Liberal Union said that he supports large discussion of human rights in the program due to the main slogan of the party.
“Not any national, state, personal interest can be a base for the violation of human rights,†he said.
He stressed that authorities are also weak along with opposition today and said that it is also clearly seen in all the regions.
Mr. Akbarli saying that strained relations between opposition leaders within past 15 years also impacted regions stated that relations among people in the regional organizations of several parties are even on the level of hostility.
“That is why I do not believe that this or that opposition leader’s meeting in the capital or sitting behind one table will unite organizations in the region mechanically. They should work seriously for it. Though the elections are coming closer, to my regret we do not see it,†he said.
MP saying that he is against of the calls of several opposition parties’ boycotting presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan this year stated that he always supported participation in the elections.
“We should confess that the real situation in the country gives opportunity to political parties for dealing with political activity only in the year of the election. And refusing from it will bring to isolation of parties from society, people, its members’ becoming passive and withdrawing from political activity.
We lost enough chance due to such position to the political processes during past years. I do not support the issue for allotting time for unique candidate. As leader of region organization of Musavat party, I have observed damage not benefit of bringing this issue into agenda from election to election. I think that, several politicians set this issue to cause conflict among oppositionists .I consider that all forces should be set for the preparation of election,†he said. Akbarli noted that it is early to speak about the results of presidential elections and stated that it is important to think about harm of establishing despondence in people saying such reports that it will be falsified, it will be unjust. He stressed that he has not agreed to the reports on the results of elections written in media at present./APA/
