Agenda of winter session of PACE announced

Developments as regards the future status of Kosovo, UN Security Council and EU blacklists, the disappearance of new-born babies for illegal adoption and the election of the new President of the Assembly are among highlights of PACE’s Winter session (21-25 January 2008). The attendees will hear PACE permanent committees’ reports on their activities during last period. First day of session will be end with lecture of Karim Van Overmeire, member of Belgian Parliament, on rights and duties of opposition in democratic parliament. Election of members of European Court on Human Rights, status of Kosovo, appeal of Ferenc Gyurcsany, Prime Minister of Hungary , global warming , issues on protection of environment of Arctic are among the agenda of second day of session. PACE attendees will hear Dick Marty’s report on UN Security Council and EU blacklists. Abdelaziz Bouteflika President of Algeria, Bamir Topi, and President of Albania will address the participants. Reports on mutual relations between PACE members, development of relations with Western countries, current situation in Central Asia will be debated on January 23.
Protecting European sport model will be debated in the 4th day of session. Michel Platini, President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will deliver speech on it. Report on Georgia’s commitments vis-à-vis European Council and the disappearance of new-born babies for illegal adoption will be debated on January 24. Text of Additional Protocol to Convention on Human Rights will be announced and report on transfrontal cooperation heard in the 5th day of session.
