Stances on pardon decree issued by Azerbaijani President
Faramaz Allahverdiyev’s wife Tahira Allahverdiyeva also expressed her gratitude to the president. She said this is the greatest New Year present for them.
Correspondent of Mukhalifet newspaper Yashar Agazadeh’s father Vagif Agayev is also glad.
“I am very happy, I can not say anything,†he said.
Rauf Karimov, close relative of Rovshan Kabirli, editor-in-chief of Mukhalifet newspaper said they were very glad.
Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov also greeted the pardon decree.
“Thanks to the president’s decree tens of people will celebrate holidays at home with their families. This is also very important for us, because there are journalists among them,†he said.
The chairman mentioned they met with the imprisoned journalists few days ago, talked to them and appealed to the head of state for their pardoning. Chairman of the Press Council expressed his gratitude to the President for his positive attitude to the appeal and said:
“This is a humane act. But every journalist should observe ethic principles.â€
Aflatun Amashov underlined that the Press Council will continue its activity in this direction.
Raset Pirisoylu, head of the Committee for Protection of rights of Rafig Tagi and Samir Sadagatoglu is also grateful to the president for pardoning them.
Lawyer Isakhan Ashurov said being the lawyer of Pirali Orujov, member of Musavat Party he is very glad.
“But I am sorry that journalist Eynulla Fatullayev, who is also my client, has not been pardoned,†he said.
Rights defender, member of the Working Group on Human Rights Sahib Mammadov also highly appreciated the pardon decree.
“We raised issue on including the names of ill-health prisoners into the list. Unfortunately, their names have not been included into the list, anyway we are glad,†he said. /APA/
