Ali Ahmadov: Those who hope the power will disperse are wrong

â€œElection tactics is determined during elections. Of course, 2008 differs from 2003 according to a number of features. Therefore, New Azerbaijan Party will have to take tactical steps in accordance with the demands of the time,â€ Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov said in his interview to APA. He said that according to the public opinion, the great majority of the voters are going to vote for President Ilham Aliyev.
â€œThe achievements define the attitude of people towards the authorities. The more is done for the peopleâ€™s welfare, as a result of economic growth, the more people will support the authorities. As the number of President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s supporters increases, the number of his rivalsâ€™ supporters reduces. The process will continue till the elections. We will once more state that Ilham Aliyev fulfilled all the promises he made in 2003 elections,â€ he said.
Ali Ahmadov considers that there will be no serious changes of political rivals in the forthcoming elections.
â€œOne of the strange features of Azerbaijanâ€™s opposition is that they have decided to demonstrate political longevity. It is impossible to demonstrate political longevity artificially. Political life of every politician is determined by the peopleâ€™s votes. These efforts will not be successful for those who stick to the political arena,â€ he said.
YAP Deputy Chairman said it is vain to await unrest inside the authorities on the eve of the elections.
â€œOpposition is awaiting unrest inside the authorities for already 10 years and they will probably have to wait for it for a long time. Those who are awaiting commotion inside YAP prove that they are weak. Those who hope the power will disperse are wrong,â€ he said.
Ali Ahmadov commenting on the opinion on changing law on â€œPolitical partiesâ€ regards that it will be possible after presidential elections.
â€œMajority of the parties perceive necessity of the adoption of this law again. There are a lot of parties which do not function at all today. Any group or manâ€™s calling himself Party is nothing but aggravating political environment of Azerbaijan. The parties on paper have unnecessary activities in Azerbaijan. The amendment of the law can establish order in the system of political party. We will return to the qualification of this law after elections, as 2008 is a period when all political parties deal with elections,â€ he added.
Ali Ahmadov commenting on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict underlined that non-settlement of the conflict through long-lasting negotiations reduces belief to the process of negotiations and mediators.
â€œ20% of Azerbaijani lands are under occupation and the subject of negotiations is the liberation of the lands. The other reality is that international organizations confess occupation of Azerbaijani territories. It means that mediators should refrain from the conception on reconciling Armenia and Azerbaijan. The mediators will not be able to initiate variant which ensures Azerbaijan except it. Searching other variants is meaningless efforts. If reconcile envisages concession of the sides, I do not accept it. The concession between the two sides will not help solution,â€ he said. /APA/
