Musavat Party delays protest action scheduled for May 27

Baku Mayors’ Office replied to the letter of Musavat Party regarding its rally scheduled for May 27, Party’s press service told the APA.
Baku Mayor’s Office allowed Musavat to hold protest action on May 26, not on May 27. Mayors’ Office explained it as the claim of law on freedom of assembly. But Musavat Party regards illegally this step of Baku Mayors’ Office and made statement on it. The statement says conductors should define the place and date of rally according to law.
“The date of the rally can be changed only in exceptional cases. None of the cases shown in the law exist at present,†statement says.
The authors of the statement regard that changing the date of the rally aims to prevent holding of rally.
“Musavat Party asserts this step of Baku Mayors’ Office as disturbing freedom of assembly rudely,†they say.
Party members debated the reply of Baku Mayors’ Office and decision was made on delaying the action. /APA/
