Unlike in the previous years, the draft budget does not envision grating any special aids to the “Nagorno Karabakh Republic functioning in the Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani territories.
The US granted $69 million to Armenia in 2006, the sum will be reduced to $35 million next year. The White House minimized granting of aids to Armenia in the category of financing foreign military forces and international training.
The draft budget also envisions granting of $3 million to Armenia in the framework of assisting foreign military forces. It is 30% less than it was a year ago. The draft budget envisions allocation of $4,3 million to Azerbaijan on this category. Allocation to Armenia for participation in international training will be reduced by 64% and will be $300,000.
$823,000 was allocated to Azerbaijan for participation in international training last year and it will be $1million in 2008. So, the US will allocate 38% more military funds to Azerbaijan than to Armenia in 2008. /APA/
