UN Committee on Elimination of Discrimination against Women estimates the adoption of some laws ensuring the gender equality in Azerbaijan; these ideas were sounded in the 37th meeting of the committee held in New York. The experts noted that these events cause the normalization of the real conditions of women. The members of the committee expressed their concern over the family stereotypes in Azerbaijan saying that the leader in Azeri families is man and woman is in the second place. The experts also noted that the number of aborts have increased and expressed their concern over the marriage of under age girls. It was noted that 70 % of the girls got married early in the south of Azerbaijan. Even there are girls that got married at 12. The experts stated the victims of human traffic are the women from poor families. The head of Azerbaijani delegation in the committee Hijran Huseynova noted that Azerbaijani government is persistent on fulfilling the commitment of international organizations on defense of rights of women in Azerbaijan. /APA/
