Azerbaijan ambassador to Georgia: Azerbaijanis in Georgia do not know state language

He said secondary school in Georgia will be transferred to voucher system. It means that the schools will be financed according to the number of pupils.
â€œAzerbaijani schools have no problems with text-books. Heydar Aliyev Foundation helps us in with this. The main problem of Azerbaijanis is that they do not know Georgian language. It prevents their integration to the community. Georgian government is working on the problem. Non-governmental organizations open language courses for Azerbaijanis. Our compatriots should realize that it is important to know the language of the country where they live,â€? the ambassador said.
Aliyev also touched upon the land problems of Azerbaijanis.
â€œPresident Eduard Shevardnadze issued a decree on leasing land in 1996. The document was written only in Georgian and it caused problems for Azerbaijanis to understand it. Some Georgian officials taking the advantage of the existing situation leased large lands. The government made a decision on privatizing the lands by their first leasers. It is a great problem and the government is working on it,â€? Aliyev said. /APA/
