Second assembly of Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress held

Baku-APA. The second assembly of Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress was held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Press Service of State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora told APA that the assembly started with Azerbaijani anthem and the film on two-year activity of the Congress was demonstrated. Sahil Gasimov, Chairman of the Congress made a report on the activity of the organization. He stated that they tried to bring Azerbaijani diasporas and organizations living in Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg together two years ago and it was impossible to join all of them , but 15 organizations joined the Congress and as a result of it Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress was established.
Fuad Isgandarov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Netherlands said that Diasporas and organizations had taken important measures on the recognition of Azerbaijan and assessed the activity of BAC in this field and spoke about important steps taken by the Congress on the establishment and development of bilateral relations.
MP Elmira Akhundova, Chairwoman of Azerbaijan-Luxembourg Interparliamentary Friendship Group spoke about the idea of Heydar Aliyev on the establishment of Diaspora to bring Azerbaijanis living abroad together.
MP Adil Aliyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan-Netherlands Interparliamentary Working Group making a keynote speech spoke about Sunday schools opened in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for the purpose of not forgetting mother tongue by our little compatriots.
Ilham Mammadov, West European Department Chief of State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora assessed the activity of BAC for increasing awareness of Benelux countries about Azerbaijan. Ukrainian, Kazakh, Georgian Ambassadors to Netherlands, representatives of Germany, France, Romania and England, as well as Azerbaijani and Turkish communities in Benelux countries, compatriots living in Netherlands attended the assembly.
The Congress passed a decision at the end of the assembly. Sahil Gasimov announced the names of people awarded by BAC for their merits in the Congress.
12-member Management Board of BAC was established via voting .Elsever Mammadov was selected as Chairman and Sahil Gasimov Honoured Chairman during the first meeting of Management Board.
