World Azerbaijanis Coordination Council gathers in Baku

In his welcoming speech, the chairman of Governing Board of the Council, president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Mahmud Karimov said besides the members of the World Azerbaijanis Coordination Council, 39 guests, including leaders of Azerbaijani communities and unions in 17 countries, as well as representatives of the Turkish and Jewish communities are hosted at the meeting. Karimov said following the 2nd Congress of the World Azerbaijanis organizing process of our compatriots abroad got wide range and Azerbaijani intellectuals actively joined the Diaspora-building process all over the world. He said important achievements were reached over the past period in the field of delivering Azerbaijani realities to the international community and uniting the Turkic world.
Then participants watched the film “Ayrilarmi Konul Candan” (“Is the Heart Separate from the Soul”).
Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov said important steps were made toward the coordination of activities of the Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations after the 2nd Congress of the World Azerbaijanis.

The Council will discuss the “Solidarity Charter of World Azerbaijanis” in the second half of the meeting on December 18. More than 20 scientists worked on this document which aims to elaborate unique concept forming the political, economic and spiritual union of Azerbaijanis living abroad on the basis of principles of Azerbaijani statehood and people’s interests and basing on the Azerbaijani ideas.
