The Cypriot singer of Armenian origin, Ovik Demirchyan, has appropriated the song “Qal, sənə qurban” (Stay, I would sacrifice myself for you), composed by Azerbaijani composer Alakbar Taghiyev with lyrics by poet Mikayil Mushfig, falsely presented it as an Armenian song, and performed and published it on YouTube under the Greek title “Hara Gedir,” the Intellectual Property Agency told APA.
Following the intervention of the Intellectual Property Agency and with technical support from the “Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry” Public Union (RAYS)—which manages the property rights of authors, performers, and phonogram producers—the video of the song uploaded by Demirchyan was removed from the YouTube platform.
