The project for the creation of a new China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway route may provide access within the framework of the Middle Corridor to Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and subsequently to Europe, General Director of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu (Kyrgyz Railway), Azamat Sakiyev told journalists within the framework of the "Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum" organized by GLENMAR Group, APA-Economics reports.

"The current global tendency shows that it is necessary to develop transport corridors. This is related to the fact that the main pricing policy and, in general, the cost of goods depend on logistics," Azamat Sakiyev noted.

According to him, construction work within the framework of the mentioned project began last December. The expected annual carrying capacity of the new railway line will be 15 million tons of cargo or more.

The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that it can ensure access from China to Europe in the shortest period of time. In addition, it is expected that the project will provide a flexible tariff policy.

"We are working on a favorable and competitive mechanism compared to other routes," the General Director emphasized.

He added that the project is planned to be completed by 2030. The total budget of the project is USD 4.7 billion (the budget has been agreed upon by all three participating countries – ed.). It is planned to transport various types of cargo – both container and dry cargo – via the new railway route. The organization of passenger transportation along the route is also envisaged.

"As it is known, there is currently a large cargo flow from China to Azerbaijan. Accordingly, we can offer very good conditions for the transportation of cargo from China to Azerbaijan," Azamat Sakiyev concluded.
