Remaining in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) primarily meets the interests of Armenian state and people, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, APA reports.

Commenting on Armenian representatives boycotting the CSTO meetings and Russia's concern that Yerevan might eventually leave the organization, Galuzin noted that remaining in CSTO and retuning to full-fledged consultations and discussions primarily meets the interests of Armenian state and people.

According to the diplomat, in terms of ensuring Armenia's security, there is currently no alternative to CSTO mechanism.

"Besides, CSTO member countries have always been ready to help Yerevan and still are. Back then it was proposed to provide military-technical support to Armenia, measures regarding the training of specialized personnels, sending a monitoring mission of the CSTO to the border areas between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, those ideas and proposals were not approved and implemented at that stage," Russian diplomat added.
