Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and his Armenian counterpart Mnatsakan Safaryan have discussed various aspects of bilateral relations and enhancing the cooperation among South Caucasus countries and their neighbors during consultations in Moscow, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website on Thursday, APA reports citing Interfax.
The two sides "held a frank and substantive exchange of opinions across the spectrum of issues [pertaining to] bilateral relations, with the emphasis on the proper preparation and effective conduct of events planned as part of dialogue between the two states. It was in this context that [the sides] considered various aspects of Russian-Armenian interactions in the sphere of politics and security, trade and economy, cultural and humanitarian areas, and inter-regional exchanges," the statement said.
The Russian side noted the need for the consistent enhancement of Eurasian partnerships, especially in light of the dramatic transformations internationally, it said.
The sides "discussed in detail the situation in the South Caucasus and prospects of its development, as well as possibilities to deepen the cooperation among the region's countries and neighbors in the format of the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Platform (Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia; Iran, Russia and Turkey)," the statement said.
The sides agreed to maintain the set dynamic of communication between the Foreign Ministries and increase interdepartmental dialogue.
The consultations took place in an engaging and constructive atmosphere in a follow-up to contacts between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the statement said.
