A detailed phone call took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed promotion of strategic projects in the energy sector in a phone conversation, the Kremlin press service reported.
"The parties discussed current issues of further development of mutually beneficial Russian-Turkish cooperation in various areas, including the promotion of strategic projects in the energy sector," the press service said in a statement.
Putin and Erdogan stated the positive dynamics of bilateral ties and the growth of mutual trade with satisfaction.
The Russian president assessed the progress of the dialogue with the United States aimed at peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and normalizing Russia-U.S. relations. The constructive nature of contacts at the highest and other levels was noted. This includes the results of the consultations recently held in Riyadh between the expert groups of the two countries and the agreement reached on a 30-day moratorium on Russian and Ukrainian energy facilities starting from March 18.
At the same time, Putin drew attention to Ukraine's continued attempts to sabotage Russian energy infrastructure.
There was an exchange of views on the resumption of the Black Sea Initiative on secure transportation, initially agreed upon in July 2022 with the mediation of Türkiye and the UN Secretariat, but not actually implemented, and the removal of obstacles to the export of Russian foodstuffs and fertilizers."
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed support for the Russia-U.S. dialogue and stated that Türkiye was ready to facilitate the progress of the Black Sea Deal.
As the two leaders "discussed the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, they emphasized the importance of ensuring the country’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the need to render all possible assistance to its government and people with a view to enhancing political stability and observing the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic and confessional groups there," the Kremlin said in its account about the conversation.
Vladimir Putin congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the entire Turkish people on the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.
"It was agreed to continue contacts at different levels," the Kremlin stated in a news release.
