Belarus condemns U.S. sanctions against officials

Baku-APA. Belarus on Friday condemned the renewal of U.S. restrictions against Belarussian officials, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The U.S. continues to implement the stereotypical approaches toward Belarus," Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrey Savinykh told reporters.

Reaffirming Belarus’ position, Savinykh said: "We are for a constructive and mutually respectful dialogue."

On Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama extended the sanctions, which have been in place for six years, for another year.

"The actions and policies of certain members of the Belarussian government and other persons continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States," said a U.S. statement.
